Office of State Revenue Climate Talk Opportunity

ParraCAN was delighted to meet with the Office of State Revenue (OSR) Parramatta Headquarters, on the 16th of August 2011.

Wayne McMillan organised a lunchtime speaking venue for Terry McBride and David Butler to address the topics of what ParraCAN does, and what steps the OSR can do to mitigate climate change. Elizabeth Boesel also attended lending her support and knowledge.

The numbers were few, but what we found is that we have some solid friends in the Treasury department. They are very keen to implement actions which will save money.

Terry gave an passionate speech as only he can. Our new friends were very interested in Beyond Zero Emissions BZE and the solar base load technology. They wanted to know if this information was in the hands of the politicians. In their hands - wouldn't it be great if it was in their heads as well. It looks like Terry has himself another return job to  share the BZE message. Well done, Terry!

This was David's first foray on the speaking circuit. The two points he made were that we can be positive about climate change when we are educated about climate change, and that by implementing even little energy savings  around the office and home we can make a difference. One fantastic idea is to start a building green committee. The OSR had their energy audit certificates proudly up on the lobby wall.

In all it was a successful meeting.

Our hosts were informed and gracious. They fully appreciate that climate change science is under attack.  Of course they are supportive that the message be extended to all people. This is an issue that touches everyone.

Hats off to the OSR for having us!
