Today from 12:00- 1:30pm ParraCAN volunteers, Ian Macindoe, Ling Halbert, Terry McBride, Duncan Roden and David Butler took to the streets in collaboration with Greenpeace Australia. The peaceful protest received many thumbs up from walker-bys.
"Why ANZ," they asked?
"We target ANZ Bank because they are the worst of the lot," we replied.
ANZ Bank markets itself as an environmental champion; they are anything but. What they don't want the public to know is that they are big financiers of coal projects. We all know dirty coal is destroying our health and putting our communities at risk.
Coal is a terrible energy source. And banks could make a difference to you and your posterity by choosing to invest in clean renewable energy solutions. It's the decisions now that affect our future.
Will they listen? Let's hope they do. Let's not forget other banks are also hypocritical when it comes to advertising their green credentials. Don't be fooled, but be fair, ANZ is not the only bad apple.
Call your bank and MP, and demand your bank behaves in accordance with Commonwealth environmental goals and policies.
It is very important. Without your voice they will not change.
