Trying to suppress the renewable energy industry on behalf of the dinosaurs of the fossil fuel industry is an evolutionary stupidity that leads to extinction.

We have two global human problems, and one remedy that will help both of them.

First is stagnation and decline of global economy, as oil and later on, natural gas and coal supply rates are now declining. Some people will say this is good thing for nature, as we get degrowth of our economies.

The second is global warming and ocean acidification, from fossil fuel and other human additions to the global carbon dioxide pools. I put it second, because humans always think of themselves first.

The only remedy we have, apart from a global collapse of human civilizations, and collapse of global human population, is to move to a steady state economy, with a low throughput of non-renewable resources. This means limiting ourselves to the plentiful energy available for capture from the Suns daily energy flux. Renewable energy solar and wind resource are plentiful in Australia. They are our major competitive advantage.

The attitudes of some of the people involved in the RET review have been mentioned elsewhere on this site.

Change to the status quo requires that we the people have to kick our politicians where it hurts, or be nice when they do the right thing. Until proved otherwise, I assume they listen to the fossil fuel lobby more than their voters.
