Cherry Pickin' Premier

Shame on Barry O Farrell! The front page of the Weekend Sydney Morning Herald reads that our new Premier cherry picked the research that jobs in NSW would fall by 31,000.

Matt Wade and editor ought to be given raises for bringing this news to our attention. Media, in general, has taken a downright negative approach on the Carbon Tax  that I almost gave up hope. I wondered seriously, "Had the world gone to pot. Surely, someone in this nation still believes in science and scientists?" So there are a few sane people among us? Where have you guys been?

The cherry is a delicious fruit, and I admit it is pickable. But I hate it when people pick them out of the bowl for me. Not that I don't trust them...actually, I don't. Hey! I can pick my own thank you very much.

Here's a list of cherries Barry can take back about his gloomy carbon tax job analysis.0

  • the job boost for Sydney and other regions was not included in the media release.
  • Sydney jobs would increase 6,400 by 2020 and by 2030 to 24,000
  • only regions expected to be worse off like the Hunter Valley an0d Illawara were included. Duh!
  • big industries, like financial service, communications, transport and some manufacturing would benefit from from a pricing energy shift
  • Frontier Economics projected 30% more output in the Hunter Region with a carbon price.
  • Even the NSW Treasury who came up with the 31,000 jobs said that it would be a mistake to base all results on subregional information.

In other words, Barry and Bruce - you porky pie'd. You distorted the facts and set to mislead the public. Don't you dare tell us you weren't trying to hide anything! How gullible do you take us for?

Okay, NSW, don't let these guys get away with this dishonesty.

I said cherry so many times in this blog that I talked myself into going down the street to buy a cherry ripe. Sweet!
