CSIRO Energymark is helping household and communites reduce their carbon footprints, lower energy usage and save on power bills.
In cooperation with CSIRO's Energymark experts, two members of ParraCAN have volunteered to be group coordinators and conduct eight cottage meetings each to raise awareness about energy and climate change issues. Each group consists of approximately ten local participants.
Learning about climate change in these small groups is fun and exciting.
" Energymark is an optimistic program. It helps me understand the whole picture from what climate change is to the practical things I can do to save energy, I keep hearing my energy bill is going to sky rocket and I want to know what I can do," said David Butler.
As energy costs incease there is great pressure on Australians to reduce their energy-lifestyle consumption. ParraCAN feels that reduction is one of the major requirements for a sustainable society. Much attention is given to solar panels as more households try to beat the energy costs. But solar panels are only part of the solution.
If Australians are serious about cutting back on electricity they will need to learn how to be efficient energy users.
It is great to see the CSIRO launching this valuable service.
