How Taxing can Carbon be? Canberra’s delivery of an interim Carbon Tax has been controversial, convoluted and emotional – but just how much do we know of its implications?

Presented as the nation’s greatest social, economic, environmental and political change members of the community are worried how it will affect them and how they will pay and just how it will involve each and every one of us. But is it good? bad? or just doesn’t matter?

At the invitation of the Alternative Technology Association Inc., a leading environmental practitioner, Dr Michael Brennan, will lead a discussion on this highly topical 'Carbon Tax'. Michael has been a leading advocate of environmental reform since the 1960s and has prepared many publications and conference papers on all aspects of environmental and resource management in Australia and overseas.

For the first time in human history, more than half the world‚s population live and work in cities, a trend that will continue at an increasing rate for generations to come. Forecasts based on economic development in India and China predicts that 70% of humans will live in cities by 2050. Furthermore, city-based humans remain the most wasteful of the earth's inhabitants.

Economic growth and carbon emissions control are currently competitors, not partners. As every big picture is comprised of millions of minute parts, in this case individual households where each can play a part.

Come and join in on an informative and thought provoking discussion on Saturday 6th of August from 1pm till 3pm.

Thankyou
Eric Brocken
