Dear Clive Palmer

Dear Clive Palmer,

Thank you for supporting Australia's renewable energy target, climate change authority, and clean energy finance corporation. But you have chosen to follow the values and attitudes of the Business Council of Australia, Minerals council of Australia, and your own vested mining interests in abolishing the already legislated greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme, which is a model for other nations to follow, including China. Your statement about supporting an ETS in the future is a stinking pile of political poop. Polluters pay is the best possible free market incentive to encourage reduction of GHG.  A carbon price uses its revenue to speed up Australian Renewable Energy industry, which is the only path that remains to continue as an energy technology civilization, with jobs at a lower future environmental price.

The long term interests of Australia do not coincide with those of the non-renewable mining industry, and your personal business interests, in stopping our already working carbon price. Your credentials as a politician would be far better if you are seen going against fossil fuel mining interests, and your previous business interests and cronies.

We are right now, so far above safe levels accumulated carbon dioxide emissions in our atmosphere and oceans, and still adding more, that some form of energy expensive carbon capture and storage, as well as massive global reforestation will be necessary to continue our existence as a species by next century. This includes a more than 80% reduction in fossil fuel burning by 2050. Stop trying to make things worse than they are now. Embrace all the necessities of global climate warming. Protecting fossil fuel emissions cannot help solve the problems caused by them. Please stop billions of dollars of taxpayer subsidies including diesel fuel rebate.  Otherwise the "free market" cannot respond to the real costs.  Further forced economic growth and false prosperity is compounding our problems. Without curbing fossil fuel use, just adding renewable energy sources is still an attempt at mass global eco-suicide.

Regards,
Michael Rynn
